Abel Joseph “Joe” Dupuis was a husband, a father, an uncle, and a friend of many. Joe was born in Houston on January 12, 1928 and passed away in the evening of Tuesday, December 6, 2011. Most of Joe’s life was spent in the Houston Heights as a resident and a business owner.
Joe’s early education included Helms Elementary, Hamilton Middle, and Reagan High School. In 1950, he graduated from the University of Texas College of Pharmacy. He then became a partner in Yale Pharmacy with his parents, Abel and Mildred Dupuis.
In 1946, Joe enlisted in the Army Corps of Engineers. At that time he served in the original occupational forces of Japan. He served his country and remained a proud American with constant interest in the politics of the United States and the world.
Joe was an active member of Heights Rotary from 1951-2011. The many friends and activities that were part of Rotary enriched his life. Joe retired from Yale Pharmacy in 1997 and began to pursue other interests. This gave him unlimited time to enjoy his interest in sports, especially the Longhorns and the Texans. Another special joy was the many trips with the Roaming Rotarians.
