

On April 24, 1958, Alex Charles Davis Jr was born in Houston, TX at Jefferson Davis Hospital to Alex Charles Sr and Callie Louise Davis. He was second of seven born to this union. He attended Kennedy Elementary for primary and secondary school from 1966 -1975. He then attended Waltrip High School from 1975-1977. He joined the United States Army at the age of eighteen and was stationed in Frankfort, Germany where he served for four years as a Field Artillery Soldier. In 1982 he united with Carolyn Davis and with this union was born two daughters, Alexis (29) and Cassandra (23) Davis. Alex specialized in service maintenance. Prior to his failing health he was a maintenance supervisor over environmental services for Coscan Village Nursing Home for the last past two years. In 2003 he united with Janice Collins and with this union they nurtured and cared for Pops, Kizzy, Keisha and Lisa. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Houston, TX by Reverend King. In 1997 he became a member of Houston First St Matthew Baptist Church where he was an active member and was part of the choir. In 2003 he was trained and licensed as a deacon where he provided his spiritual guidance and support to the members of Houston First St Matthew Baptist Church. In March 2012 he became a member of Duncan Memorial C.O.G.I.C where he served as an active member and he sang in the choir. As his health began to fail, his spirit and faith grew stronger even to the end. He was always concerned with how everyone else was doing during his illness. He was always willing to give a listening ear and give words of encouragement. Up until the very day of his death he would always have a smile on his face and laughter in his heart. He departed this life on September 12, 2012 after a three month battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He will be deeply missed. He is preceded in death by his father Alex Charles Davis Sr, stepfather George Profit, auntie Patricia Woodard, cousin Wayne Woodard, grandfather Ellis Woodard, grandmother Verna Woodard and grandmother Louise Cook He is survived by his loving mother Callie Profit (77), special friend Janice Collins (52); brothers Milton (63), Jerome (48) and Antoine (45); sisters Michelle (52), Regina (48) and Antoinette (45); two daughters Alex Davis (29) and Cassandra Davis(23); adopted son and daughters Pops, Kizzy, Keisha and Lisa; one grand-daughter Key'anna; three grand sons Kamren, Torrin, and Tyren; stepmother WillieMae Davis; stepsisters Patricia, Ethel, Fannie; stepbrothers Thomas and BoBo and a host nieces, nephews and cousins, co-workers and numerous friends.
