Almeida Elaine Bravenec, 103, of Houston, Texas, passed away on June 4, 2022. She is survived by her daughters Linda Davenport (husband Richard) and Joan Caffey; grandchildren Christie Rose, Jennifer Caffey, Lisa Caffey, and David Caffey; great grandchildren Grace Rose, and Reagan Rose.
Almeida Elaine (Franke) Bravenec was born April 4, 1919, in Industry, Texas, to Edward and Mary Elizabeth Franke, Almeida’s Siblings included Arthur Franke, Erwin Franke, Monroe Franke, Norma Franke, Laura Pavolosky and Louise Franke all deceased.
She was married to Franklin Dale Bravenec in Bellville on April 7, 1937. Almeida was married to Franklin Bravenec for 59 years whom she enjoyed life in the Heights raising three children with Franklin. She had three children – son James Earl Bravenec (1940-1948); daughter Linda Davenport (husband Richard); and daughter Joan Caffey (husband David – deceased).
Almeida lived in Houston for 85 years. She worked at Love Elementary for 20 years during 1950’s and 1960’s as cashier. She loved reading, cooking, pickling, canning, cooking German food, and Czech kolaches. She was known for her pies, kolaches, and dill pickles at least by her family. She was an excellent seamstress and would make clothes for her daughters and herself.
She enjoyed traveling around the world with Franklin. They visited Germany and Czechoslovakia where their families lived and were buried.
She was an active member at the SPJST Lodge where she participated in Saturday night dances, Bingo, and birthday club. Every Friday and Saturday night for over thirty years Almeida played cards with friends and went dancing at the SPJST Lodge 88.
Almeida loved attending birthday club, member events, and bingo at the lodge. She was a member of Grace Methodist, St. Mark’s Methodist and her last home church was The Foundry United Methodist Church.
A visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the funeral at 10:30 a.m. at Heights Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a Christian burial service at 1:30 p.m., June 16, 2022, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, Texas 77079.
