She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Raymond, Thomas, Edward, Johnnie, and Armando Luna; and by her sister, Lucy Luna. Anna is survived by her sister-in-law, Alice A. Luna and Frances V. Luna; niece and nephews, Mary L. Angeli, Dolores L. Gonzales, Johnny V. Luna, Raymond Luna, Mary Elizabeth Luna, Gloria Luna, Veronica L. Gonzales, Ted Luna, Edmundo Luna, David Luna, Rick Luna, William Luna (of Nebraska), Armando Luna, Jr., Yolanda Rivera Perez, Louis, and Danny; 27 great-nieces and nephews; and over 32 great-great nieces and nephews.
Anna graduated from Jeff Davis high school in 1948, and aspired to become a nurse. She went to work in a doctor’s office to save the money to attend nursing school. By the time that she had saved enough money, she was told that she had been out of school for too long. She would not be deterred. She continued to work for the doctor, and then moved on to work in the Pharmacy at Jeff Davis Hospital. Anna completed the X-Ray Technician course at Jeff Davis Hospital on February 1, 1960, and began working at Baylor College of Medicine. She would later move on to work for the Rosewood Hospital, where she retired.
Anna did not have children of her own; but she spent her life caring for her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed her retirement years, caring for many of her great-nieces and nephews, as well as her great-great nieces and nephews; and even a few children not related by blood, but by love. Anna’s legacy of love will live on in the hearts of all of the lives that she touched, and that is many.
Anna was eventually diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and suffered tirelessly for a number of years. God blessed us with this precious angel for nearly 87 years; and carried her home on August 29, 2016. She will be dearly missed by so many.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2016, in the Family Chapel of Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will be held at 11 o’clock a.m., Friday, September 2, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 4918 Cochran St., Houston, Texas 77009. Interment to follow, Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
