Annié Jo Adkins, 82, born July 21, 1937 in Campaign, Tennessee, peacefully went home to our Lord on Thursday, January 30, 2020. One of 6 siblings she settled in Houston, Texas where she independently supported and raised 4 children and multiple grandchildren, along with being the caregiver to her mother until passing.
Working her entire 40+ year career as a butcher’s clerk in the grocery industry and lifelong member of the United Food & Commercial Workers Internationals Union, she retired and settled in North Zulch, Texas. Upon retirement, she received the Lord's blessing and became an active member of the First Baptist Church of North Zulch and devoted the remainder of her life to our Lord Jesus Christ. As a Cancer survivor, she continued to volunteer and embarked on many missions of faith to assist the needy throughout the state of Texas with her church.
Her passion of the outdoor plants (especially roses), reading, sewing and quilting with her quilting group and spending time with her grandchildren brought joy throughout the remainder of her life.
Mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, she is preceded in death by her parents Dyer and Mary Lou Coots; son Steven Lloyd Timmons; daughter Connie Marie Gray; granddaughter Madeline Gayle Gray; brother and sisters: Winnie Ellen Zumwalt, Wanda Lee Cantrell, Daisy Blaylock, and Floyd Coots.
She is survived by her sister Marie Mutchler, son Ernest (Mitch) Gray and wife Lei; daughter Cindy Clapp; grandchildren: Shawn Mitchell Gray; Kendra Wiggins; Chelsy Hall; Christopher Peacock; Jeremy Gray; Crystal Oracion and 13 great grandchildren.
