Anthony “Tony” David Suarez, 56, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 19, 2020, in Houston, Texas. He was born July 9, 1964 in New Orleans, Louisiana – the second child of Catherine and Harry Suarez, Sr.
He graduated from St. Pius X High School in 1982 and lettered in football, baseball, and basketball. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University. As a senior, he was named the Athletic Department’s Student of the Year. He later earned a master’s degree from Prairie View A&M University.
Tony dedicated his entire career to public education – teaching and coaching in Aldine ISD and spending the majority of his career at Klein High School in Klein ISD. During Tony’s career, which spanned more than three decades, he touched countless lives. Sixteen of his student athletes went on to play professional sports. Tony not only mentored students on the football field and baseball diamond, but he also impacted students in the classroom. Through his humor, kindness, and wisdom, he inspired his students and players to be the best version of themselves.
Off the field, Tony unconditionally dedicated himself to his family and friends whom he loved dearly. He was a man of faith with a servant’s heart. He had a larger-than-life personality that was reflected in his remarkable smile. Tony was a loyal son who lived close to his parents, Catherine and Harry, and spent countless hours talking and laughing with them. He was a loving and doting father to his children, Andy and Natalie. He made many lasting memories with them and always put their wants and needs above his own. Tony loved vacationing at the beach and attending local festivals with his beloved girlfriend, Claudia Greenhaw. He liked to end his days sitting down with a bowl of Blue Bell Ice Cream and watch Law & Order SVU marathons with his dog, Anya, always in his lap.
Tony is survived by his son Andy Suarez, daughter Natalie Suarez, and their mother Tammy Lamp, his parents Catherine and Harry Suarez, Sr., his brother Harry Suarez, Jr., his sister Angela Borski and her husband Ronnie, niece Kasey Borski, and girlfriend Claudia Greenhaw.
