She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Larry L. Sharon; son Mark Aaron of Dallas; son Matthew and wife Sandy, grandson Thomas, grandson John, and granddaughter Amy of Houston; twin sister Alicia of Dallas; sister Eufemia and husband Archie of Palestine; brother Ramiro and wife Patsy of Bullard; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ramiro and Cristela Gonzales.
Joy was employed as an office assistant by Spring Branch Independent School District for twenty years before retiring. She was a longtime member of Houston's First Baptist Church and served as a teacher in the Children's Sunday School Department for several years. She and Larry enjoyed attending their beloved church and especially the Truth Seekers Sunday School Department.
Joy loved her family with all her heart. Her great pleasure in life was in helping her husband in raising their two sons. Greater pleasure than that, was in helping their son and wife in raising their three beautiful special needs grandchildren, Thomas, Amy and John. The love of Christ was demonstrated in her love for her grandchildren - and they always loved to come to visit "Grandma's House."
A visitation for Joy will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., at Houston's First Baptist Church, 7401 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024.
