Benjamin Joseph Janosky, age 76, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on Saturday September 23, 2023. There are no words that can be written to express the immeasurable value and greatness of this man. We can only attempt to provide a glimpse of the light he shined on everyone around him.
Benny was born on February 22, 1947 in Houston Texas to Benjamin Franklin and Edna Janosky. After graduating high school, he immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served his country with honor and pride. After his service, he began work as a lead engineer in plant operations with Memorial Hermann Hospital Systems, where he met the love of his life. Benjamin and Patricia married in 1982 and remained faithful partners until her passing in 2003.
He was a selfless man, full of knowledge, ready, willing and waiting to share with anyone around him. He loved reading and learning, always with a book on practically any subject close by. He enjoyed sinking his toes into the sand with the sea breeze gliding across his face, waiting patiently for his fishing pole to “zing”, then jumping up and fighting the catch. He was an astronomer, following the planets and stars, spending countless hours gazing deep into the night sky, amazed by its mystery and beauty. He was an archeologist, digging wherever there were rocks to be dug. Investigating and identifying the relics that lay just beneath the earth's surface. He built and maintained his own backyard garden and to say he had a green thumb would be a vast understatement. He only needed to drop a seed into the dirt or look at a wilting plant for them to flourish and be fruitful. He loved his family and friends alike, unconditionally, always making himself available with open ears to listen, a shoulder to cry on, Popeye arms to hug you tight and sincere heartfelt words to comfort you. He will forever be in our hearts and missed by everyone that knew him. Although he left us before we were ready to let him go, it brings comfort to know that this is not “goodbye”, this is “we will see you later”.
Benjamin is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Janosky; his parents, Benjamin and Edna Janosky; Sister, Shirley Kent; Stepdaughters, Carolyn Elzner and Debra James.
