After graduating high school she married William Schmitt in August of 1950 and followed Bill for the next 20 years as an Air Force wife. After Bill's retirement they moved back to Houston where they joined Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church where she later became church treasurer and held the position up to her death. She was also very active in the LWML (Lutheran Women's Missionary League) in her district.
Billie and Bill were bless with 3 sons, Steven, Richard, and Gary. She was preceded in death by her father William Sullender, mother Alice Walsh, daughter-in-law Margaret Schmitt, grandsons Joey Schmitt and Samuel Schmitt. She is survived by husband of 72 years Bill, children Steven, Richard, Gary and wife Robin, Jason, 9 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, sisters Jo-Caroll Mueller and Marilyn Straight.
In lieu of flowers make memorials to Beautiful Saviour Our Redeemer Lutheran Church on 215 Rittenhouse.

A funeral service will occur Friday, October 21, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A committal service will occur Friday, October 21, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
