

Blanche Carmalita Gordon (nee Grant) was born on July 17, 1925 in St. Mary, Jamaica. She was born to Norman and Estella Grant. She moved and lived with her Aunt Vashti in Kingston, Jamaica (West Indies) at age 13 and later moved to Brooklyn, New York (USA) in 1967 then Houston, Texas.
Blanche studied to be a chef as she enjoyed the culinary arts. In her formative years she often cooked and catered food for her family, friends and neighbors. When she moved to New York she purchased her first home and later purchased a home in Houston, Texas were she settled and later retired.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Gordon, son Cleveland Harris and daughter Vashti Harris Oldacre.
She is survived by her sons Derrick and Wayne; her daughters Lurline, Beverley and husband Ronald Hanchard, Jennifer and husband Trevor Chambers, and Deborah and husband Andrew Hart. Blanche is also survived by her 12+ grandchildren Michelle, Michael, David, Dale, Kenneth, Teraike, Garth, Conrad, Nickarr, Brian, Gibran, Keanon, Briana and Lauren and great grandchildren Jessica, Shamar, Jasmine, Sydney, Jennifer, Samara, Cleveland, Jeremy, Asia, Nathan, Nicholas, Silas, Samiyah, Cameron, Amelia, and Xavier; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her brave life came to a peaceful end in her home surrounded by her family and loved ones. Blanche, you lived a triumphant life and will be missed by all who knew you.
