

Charles (Charlie) E. DeWitt, 89, was born in Beech Bottom, West Virginia and passed away surrounded by his family November 24, 2017 in Houston, Texas. He came to Texas after serving in the Navy in the Pacific Rim during World War II as a proud Navy Veteran. He was truly a self-made man and helped established Texas Mill Supply from the ground up to a successful Industrial supply business. His small town values and strong character made him a great father, husband, and true friend. Charlie had many friends from different backgrounds and was loyal to all. He was a people person with a sharp sense of humor and cherished his friends for the love and support through the years.
Charlie is preceded in death by his beloved wife and family matriarch Sylvia L. DeWitt, sons Charles L. DeWitt and Terry L. DeWitt, grandson Charles R. DeWitt, brother Leonard DeWitt, and cousin Tucker Boyd. He is survived by his son Robert L. DeWitt and wife Denise Barker DeWitt, daughter-in-law Sheryl DeWitt, granddaughter Kimberly DeWitt Chisum and husband Adam Chisum, grandsons Keith DeWitt and Jay DeWitt, and great grandchildren Brandon and Rainey DeWitt.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home starting at 11:00 am. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 pm with interment immediately following at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
