Carolyn Joice Irene Lehmann Tennison, 84, of Houston, TX was called home to be united with her Lord and Savior on November 17, 2021. Carolyn was born September 23, 1937 in Ledbetter, TX to Martin and Ruth (Schmidt) Lehmann.
Carolyn attended Zion Lutheran School and La Grange High school in LaGrange, TX. She moved to Houston in 1953 for employment as a nanny for the Darby family in order to help her mother and father financially with their farm. In 1957, she began working for Marsh & McClennan Insurance broker as a casualty property account representative and spent her career working there. In 1976, she married Wayne Tennison and they enjoyed their life together of 44 years until his passing in 2020.
Carolyn was a member of the Insurance Women of Bellaire, where she served as welfare chairwoman and coordinated many charitable golf tournaments. This position also involved considerable time with the Mental Health and Retardation Authority of Harris County. Carolyn also led an active bread ministry at Trinity Lutheran Church, baking and delivering homemade bread loaves to every visitor at Trinity. She was an active member of the Ladies Circle at Trinity and served as Treasurer for numerous years. In her retirement, she had a very successful Watkins and Mary Kay Sales business. In her free time, she loved a good trip to the casino, baking, and gardening. She was especially proud of her African Violets. Carolyn was an exceptionally hard-working woman, who rarely idled, and she set high standards for everyone around her. She was an avid supporter of Lutheran Education and was always happy to support her nieces and nephews’ Lutheran schools.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father and mother, Martin and Ruth Lehmann, husband Wayne, Sisters, Mary Beth Griffin and Doris Lehmann, and brother, Harold Lehmann. She is survived by her Sisters, Eunice Witt and Darlene Tennison and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
