

Charles Matthew Wilcox of Spring, Texas, passed away March 13, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Born in Bronx, New York, January 23, 1938, to Augustus and Amanda Lauth Wilcox, Charles moved to Houston in the early 1940’s with his parents, brother Elwood and sister RoseMary Wilcox Turner. Charles succeeded his parents and siblings. Charles graduated from Lutheran High School in Houston. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Lamar University in Beaumont in 1965. After graduation, Charles served his country in the Navy, Civil Engineering SeaBees Battalion. After serving 5 years, Charles returned to Houston and continued his education by graduating from the University of Houston with a Master degree in Civil Engineering. Charles worked 30+ years in the engineering consulting business and as Project manager for Harris County, Precinct 1. Charles is survived by his wife of 45 years, Glenda Johnson Wilcox; their daughter, Mary Elizabeth Hall and son-in-law Charles Glen Hall II of Coppell, Texas; son, Charles Edward Wilcox of Spring, Texas; and granddaughter, Rachel Elizabeth Hall of Coppell, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 18, 2013 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1612 Meadow Edge Lane, Spring, Texas 77388, Interment will take place at a later date at Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 2900 Weslayan, Houston, Texas 77027, or to Resurrection Lutheran Church.
