At a young age, Cheryl gave her life to Christ and became a member of Second Mount Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of her beloved uncle, the late Reverend Peter Taylor Sr., where she was also baptized. In 2010, she rededicated her life to God and joined First Macedonia Baptist Church, led by her nephew, Pastor Eddie Roy Lewis Jr. There, she served faithfully on the Usher Board, always greeting others with warmth and kindness.
Cheryl was raised in the Fifth Ward area of Houston, where she attended Bruce Elementary, E.O. Smith Middle School, and Wheatley High School. She went on to dedicate over 30 years of her life to serving the community as a compassionate and dependable bus driver. Her career included time with METRO, HISD, Sheldon ISD, and she proudly retired from Aldine ISD in 2009.
Even through all her illness, Cheryl still enjoyed taking vacations, going to the casino with her friends, and eating at her favorite restaurant Red Lobster. She was planning on taking a cruise this year for what would have been her 70th birthday.
