I will never forget the trip offshore out to rig AIA back in the early 80's  when Ron was in his boat, Mike and I in mine and Sonny and DeWayne in his. Sonny hooked up and fought this monster for an hour or more pullin' and heavin' and wondering how big this grouper could be...finally he got it to the surface and the big "grouper" turned out to be a 5 gallon bucket...we roared for 10 minutes and from that time the "bucket fish" was born....we will miss you, Sonny.

Sonny and I were friends for 34 years. Tommy Tamburello and I met him together on Taylor Lake. We all had Sea Rays and had to see how this guy was faster than us. We learned he could build a HOT racing engine. He loved to fish and soon he was part of our group - Sonny, Bob & Mike Ware, Tommy Tamburello and me. I don't remember too many trips offshore when Sonny wasn't beside me in his boat. Sonny and Juanette became our neighbors at Demi-John Island and when we weren't fishing the Ware brothers were putting on their excellent BBQ or crawfish. There were too many good times to remember. We all loved Sonny and will miss him. Sonny, save us a spot at the A1A rig if they have one up there.

When I was younger we used to meet Sonny on Old River at Riverside Inn during the boat racing days.
Sonny would come by the Shop at Washington Av. when we were there.
I remember my Dad, Sonny & CW going deep sea fishing.
Sonny & Freddie used to meet at the dock for a visit.
Freddie used to have Sonny over for a visit at Gulfway when I worked there. 
Blessed be the better memories of Clarence Ray "Sonny" Schoellkopf and prayers to his Children.

Sonny, to all the good times at Demi-John, offshore and under the hood in the Heights, we'll miss you buddy!
