

Claudie Mae Irvin was born in Lee County, TX on March 27, 1927 to Floyd & Ernestine Irvin. To this union were 14 children of which she was the oldest, Claudia accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in the Brazos River. Claudie attended school in the Lee County Public School System, she later married Willie T. Mays and to this union, Dorothy Jean Mays (Wilson) was born; 9 years later Claudie was Blessed with 4 more children. In 1950 Claudie moved to Houston, TX where she united with Christian Home Baptist Church and over the years she moved to the Heights and joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. S.J. Gilbert, Sr. where she dutifully served in many auxiliaries and sang in the choir. Claudie worked faithfully for the Houston Independent School District for many years as well as The Houston Club. Upon retiring, she married Edward Windom and was blessed with 15 Wonderful years of marriage until his death.
Claudie had many hobbies and was Blessed with many talents; she loved playing dominoes, was an amazing Cook and Baker, loved traveling out of town, family gatherings, liked sewing, singing in the choir, and most of all loved talking and being the center of attention!
Claudie has joined in Heaven, her parents Floyd & Ernestine Irvin, her twin sister Ernest Mae Williams, husband; Edward Windom, sisters: Louise Johnson, Vera Volasgis, Vernell Irvin, Billie Jean Gooden, brothers: Antone Irvin, Searcy B. Irvin, Harvey Irvin and JC Irvin, children: Martha Mays, Marvin Mays and Sharon Robinson, great grandchild: London Ponson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Shelia Thomas (Edward), Michael Mays Sr. (Stephanie) and Dorothy J. Wilson, her siblings: Shellie Johnson, Amanda Burton (Alton), Doris Irvin and Floyd Irvin, Jr: three brothers Londell Blue, Leonard C Blue and Larry Blue: seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, one Aunt Alene Gregory and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
On October 30, 2020, peacefully, the Almighty God called Claudie home for her eternal rest.
We can rejoice and be glad knowing that she has received her heavenly reward!
