Clea Doyle “Sonny” Butler Jr. born in Houston, Texas on March 27, 1933 went to be with the Lord and his loved ones on August 11, 2012. Proceeded in death by his parents Clea Doyle Butler Sr. and Birdie Lou Bird Butler, and two sons, Billy Paul Butler and John Travis Butler, Sonny is survived by his wife, Arlene Spain Butler, daughter, Davida Butler Stike and husband Walt, Son, Clea Doyle “Buddy” Butler III and wife Judy, Step daughters, Libby Faubion and husband Randy, Tammy Miller and husband Glynn, Stepson, Leon Waldrop and wife Gina, Numerous Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren, family and friends. Sonny Butler, a long time resident of San Leon, generously served his community. He served as the president of the San Leon – Bacliff Chamber of Commerce and was voted man of the year . Sonny, or Papa Sonny, as he was affectionately called, had a zest for life and an infectious laugh. He enjoyed life by spending time gathering with family and friends hunting, boating, fishing, playing dominos, and travel. He will be missed by all who knew him.
