Clyde George Rutland, at age 92 died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 surrounded by loved ones. He was born on March 18, 1919 in Lexington, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bert and sister Juanita.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Marge, daughters and son in laws Barbara and Joe Jones, Pam and Rick McKellop. He is also survived by grandchildren Joe Jones Jr., Jeff Jones, Jimmy Jones, Rickey McKellop and Jennifer Muriel. Also, he is survived by ten great grandchildren, Hunter, Jake, Jade, Maggie, Camie, Ben, Jaclyn Jones, Peter Anthony, Marissa, and Mariana Muriel.
Clyde was a philanthropist and a remarkable man who lived an amazing life. He grew up in a modest railroad family in east Houston. He went on to become a successful business man having one of the largest independent electrical distributorships in the industry. His greatest achievement was Wholesale Electrical Supply Co. founded in 1949 by Clyde and his beloved Marge. There are now 12 branches and over 475 employees. He was a member of N.A.E.D. and later became president. He supported the University of Houston Industrial Distribution scholarship program and many other charities.
Clyde served as a First Sergeant in the Air Force in WWII. He was stationed in Kelly field in San Antonio. He proudly served his country for two years in Guam and the Mariana Islands.
He was a Deacon and Elder with Faith Community Church in Pearland.
Clyde was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His giving was endless to everyone who knew him. He led, mentored, and guided his employees; several of which have been with Wholesale Electric most of their lives. He is a legend in the electrical business and respected by all. He will truly be missed by his family, friends, and employees.
The family would like to thank Jackie, Vanessa, Allie, Creselda, Anita, and Josephine, his loving caregivers, and his Hospice nurse Erin for their devotion and loving care.
Pallbearers will be his four grandsons and three great grandsons.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, July 24, 2011 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Forest Park Lawndale in the main chapel with interment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
