Deretta Rene Griffin

Sargent, Deretta Griffin was born in San Francisco, California on October 26, 1962. She was the 3rd child born to Cloyd and Frances Griffin, Sr. and was dearly loved. Sister Deretta was a professed Christian, raised in a Holiness church under her father's ministry. She was an honor student throughout her academic career. Deretta ministered to others along her path, paid her tithes, gave money to strangers, ministries and causes, and rescued many stray animals. She remained devoted to her ministry throughout her life with No Time to Waste Ministry, Pastor Larry Johnson, presiding. Deretta graduated from Aldine Senior High School and furthered her education with the University of Houston/Downtown, where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. As a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many people, she extended love through her giving. Deretta, affectionately, known as DeeDee, was a lively stone who always enjoyed good conversation, life, laughter and hard work. She is preceded in death by father, Cloyd Griffin, Sr., Grandfather, Max (Louis) Lewis, Grandmother, Mary Viola Lewis, Grandparents, Annie andFrank Adams, and Uncle Lloyd Griffin. Uncles: Horace Leblanc, Ernest Lewis, Robert Lewis, Calvin John Lewis, James Lewis, and one Aunt, Theresa Jones, Cousins, Pedro Lewis and Anna Marie Lewis-Hogan. Deretta is survived by people who love and will miss her dearly: daughter Michaela Gilbert, son-in-law, (Timothy Morales), and dog Ruby, I leave all my heart and love. Please complete your journey, and hold your head up high. To Mother (Frances Griffin), my heart and all my love. I didn't intend to precede you, but I will see you when your journey is complete.
