Dolores "Lola" Gonzales

Dolores (Lola) Gonzales passed away peacefully on June 9, 2013. She was born in Houston, TX on September 26, 1930 to Manuela Gomez and Homero Flores. Lola was preceded in death by her husband Tony Gonzales, Jr.; parents, grandson, Jose (Gordy) Martinez; two great grandsons, Raphael Esparza and Austin Almendarez; and sisters, Eva and Mamie. Dolores (Lola) leaves behind her brothers and sisters; Mary Alice Cuellar, Rebecca Miniel, Johnny Gomez, Jesse Gomez and Rudy Gomez; children, Lillian (Ruben), Tony (Esperanza), Stella, Louis, Norma (Allen), 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren, with one on the way and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom lived all her life in Houston being the third of eight children. Her greatest passion in life was her family. She was a woman of great character and was a true lady in every essence of the word. She instilled life's most important values in all her children and taught them to always look out for each other. Mama, we didn't want to let you go but Papi has waited a long time for you. Mom we will always miss you, especially your Saturday night hamburgers and the sound of your slippers. Enjoy your dance with Papi in eternity. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 from 4:00pm-9:00pm with a rosary to be recited at 7:00pm in the Main Chapel of Forest Park Lawndale. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 12:00 pm at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 19222 Tomball Pkwy, Houston, TX 77070. Burial will follow in Houston National Cemetery.
