

Don Parr (Sonny) Bosworth, born January 7, 1929 passed away peacefully with his son, Sam Todd, by his side on May 28, 2012 (Memorial Day). Sonny is survived by sons, Sam Todd Bosworth and wife Zina, Kevin Clark Bosworth and wife Karren, Don Parr Bosworth, Jr.; daughter, Pamela Jean Barberio; granddaughters, Brianna Bosworth, Sydney Bosworth, and Sonia Barberio and friend Zelda Brunson.
Sonny received an honorable discharge on January 6, 1949 for serving our country in the United States Navy during WWII. He received a second honorable discharge on October 6, 1953 for serving our counry once again in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After his service, Sonny came home to Houston and became a commercial newspaper printer. Sonny founded, owned and produced the Aldine Jet News. Sonny returned to the waters as a merchant marine until his retirement. He was an active member of Harris County Democrats and thrived on the political process. Sonny was a Master Mason in good standing of Melrose Lodge No. 1294 for over 40 years. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post No. 397 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 581.
Sonny will be remembered for his many stories, especially of seeing the world twice on water through the ports he visited. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m, Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Earthman Resthaven. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 31, 2012 in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven with a graveside service following at 11:30 a.m., at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veteran's Memorial Parkway, Houston, Texas.
