

Doris Riley Singleton was born on June 19, 1934 to the union of Neal and Danchie Riley in Garrison, Texas. Her mother and father, her husband; Clarence Singleton and her brothers; Elbert, Elzie, Acie and Julian Riley all preceded her in death. Doris received her education in the Public School System in Garrison, Texas. She graduated from Concord High School. She furthered her education by obtaining a degree in Nursing. She worked as a Private Duty Nurse for years and retired from the St. Anthony Nursing Home in Clearlake, Texas. Doris accepted Christ at an early age and was a long-time member of Bethany Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Steven W Hall. She attended services regularly until her illness prevented her from doing so. Doris loved to knit and was always knitting things for people. She would make a variety of things, such as wraps, bedspreads, and afghans for people and gave them away lovingly. Everyone treasured whatever she made because they knew it was not only her passion but there was love in each and every stitch.Doris loved and cherished her family. After a long illness, she went home to be with the Lord on August 18, 2018 at 6:49 p.m. under the loving care of the Vitas Healthcare Center in Houston, Texas.Doris leaves to cherish her memories: two (2) loving daughters; Gloria (Michael) J. White and Donnie Whitaker; two (2) sisters; Alvera Caldwell and Carrie Bryant, grandchildren; Michael D. White Jr., (Tamara Williams), Courtney J. White and Charleston J. Wilson, great grandchildren; Makayla Wilson and Michael D. White III, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and good neighbors. She will be missed greatly.
