Doris Jean Harvey-Smith, 94, born in Houston, TX to Weaver and Lydia (Adams) Harvey, November 15th, 1919 in their home on Preston St. went to be with the Lord on December 28, 2013. She was in the first graduating class from S. F. Austin High School in 1938. She later obtained a Diploma for Interior Architecture and Design from Feather and Feather School of Fine and Applied Art, which aided her in becoming an accomplished fine artist in multiple mediums. She was a life-long devoted Christian, as a member of Calvary, Eastwood and Woodlands Baptist churches, serving as Sunday School Teacher and Training Union Director. Doris was awarded life membership in P.T.A. after Presidency of Austin High chapter during the school's 25th anniversary. She was an award-winning ballroom dancer and instructor's partner. Doris was preceded in death by her older brother Boyd, who passed in infancy, and her husband Ray, who passed in 1972. She is survived by older sister Ruth Kelly as well as her four sons: Dennis & wife Audrey, Dr. David & wife Cindy, Douglas, Don & wife Cynay, four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 12:30pm followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm on Thursday, January 2, 2013 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home.
