Doris Faye Winton, 90, was born in Houston, Texas on May 15, 1926 and passed away peacefully at home on June 19, 2016. Miss Winton taught first grade at J. W. Oates Elementary School for 35 years. Once she retired, she was able to spend more time baking for family and friends. Doris was an active lifelong member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church.
Miss Winton was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Bob Winton; brother, Benny and foster sister, Mary Parker.
She is survived by her best friend and cousin, Pricilla Connor. Other survivors include cousin, Jimmy Lambert; foster brother, Melvin McBee and wife Mary; niece, Sandi Harrison and husband Mark; numerous nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Earthman Resthaven with interment immediately to follow in Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
The family would like to thank her devoted caregivers who made it possible for Miss Winton to remain in her home, as was her wish.
