Doug, what a blessing you were to our family. Your deep voice could always be heard throughout the house, and your gentle heart showed in the love you gave the grandkids who called you "Buttons," and to the many animals my brother would lovingly take in. The love you shared with my brother brought him a happiness I had never seen before. I will always treasure the photo of us with Munner at her bay house. Thank you for loving our family so well

As we prepare for Doug's Celebration of Live, may you feel God's comfort and presence for all family members, friends and acquaintances.  For a celebration is just that - a time to remember and reflect on the joy and happiness that we have know by having our lives touched by Doug in one way or another.

Saved the best for last. This is who Doug was to me. If you were feeling down, sad, or just having a hard time, Doug would put on his Robbin Williams hat and do do something wonderful to cheer you up. His Love, Kindness, and wonderful sense of Humor is what made him so special, there will never be another. Two of my dearest friends are gone, Rest Easy my dearest friend, You will be missed everyday.

You will be missed my friend.  A wonderful man, full of love and joy of life.  You never met a stranger, and never ignored someone in need or in pain.  The world is a lesser place without you in it.

My gosh, where to start. I became your friend in elementary/middle school and for over 40 years of our lives, this is truly heartbreaking to everyone who knew you. I really thought you would out live us all, with all the love, kindness and definitely your humor,  man what times we had growing up and the rest of our lives, how those memories have changed now, but you are not truly dead as long as you are in our hearts, and you live on in mine.

I will always love you my dear friend and the world got a little darker today. My hearts goes out to Tony, Mark, Mike and of course Pat and Joan, their partners,  children and the extended family,  simply heart broken.  Love Ed

I knew Doug from my time at HCSO and we collaborated on a couple of projects there.  He was an affable guy and it was always a pleasure being around him and the great folks he worked with over the years.   My condolences to the family.

Your middle name being Jorden is so appropriate.  You definitely had the gift of the Jorden humor, gab, and a sense of mischief.  Full of life and almost always with a smile on your face. 

It was always fun when we were with family, and you would be picking on Munner or Evelyn, making them scream at you and everyone else laughing.  

One of my favorite memories was when we did something that we knew was going to get us into trouble, and a spanking was inevitable.  Somehow, we wedged a skillet or pan into your pants, and when mom came in hot for a spanking, she never looked at why your butt was so mis-shaped. She hit that pan with a loud “ping” and busted a blood vessel in her hand.  Boy, was she mad!  We were in trouble before, but now, it was exponentially increased.  I don’t remember exactly what happened when dad got home, but I think he was a little bit amused by it all.  I laugh every time I think about it now!

I have bought and sold a few vehicles in my life, but not like you. For many years, I would wonder what kind of vehicle you would have the next time I would see you.  A corvette, a pickup, an SUV…  Who knew what it might be, but always with a stereo in it.  

You were always there to help anyone that needed it.  And you were absolutely key in supporting mom and dad over the last few years.  Thank you for all of your help there, brother.  You set a standard that Mike and I will strive to keep up with, but it will be tough.

One of my favorite things we shared is a deep love for music! I remember taking you to your first concert to see Kiss in 1979.  It was so much fun, (except when we got back to my Blazer and found that the stereo had been stolen out of it during the concert).  And in our later years, you played guitar, and I got back into playing drums.  I sure wish we could have played music together at some point.  

I will miss you, Doug!  Keep that smile on your face, and we will jam and play music together someday when we meet again!

Doug was a great neighbor when we lived on Bron Holly in Houston. I remember him having a great sense of humor as well as being a kind and caring person. We are truly sad to hear of his passing. Denise & Kate

We had a lot of great times working together for so many years Dougie and you would always help anyone. The last 30 years have flown by and you were part of the reason it went so fast, making me and everyone around laugh and getting our work done as always.  You always had a good heart for helping others and demonstrated that again recently fixing Liz’s pc up right before we lost you. You will truly be missed in the hearts of everyone who knew you! Our hearts are absolutely broken. Doug always knew how to make me laugh, and he truly had a heart of gold. Growing up as close cousins, we shared so many unforgettable memories and the best times together. You will be deeply missed.

Frequent stop at El Gallo restaurant before Thursday regular Stone Broke band practice.  Doug picked up our band leader every week for more than 5 years.  Just another small selfless act that characterizes the man.

Doug, you were my whole world. For 32 years you were by my side, and for 10 of those, I was lucky enough to call you my husband.

Your parents, Dr. Charles P. Eldridge Jr. and Joan, raised a man who never lost his sense of wonder or his kindness, and I know how much those roots meant to you. You were the man who could fix anything—I watched you dive into every project with those steady hands, and if you didn’t have the answer, you’d stay up until you found it. Whether you were capturing the world through your camera lens or lost in the music with the guys in Stone Broke, you did everything with so much heart.

Our home was always full of your music and your kindness. You weren't just a neighbor to the people on our street, you truly loved them and considered them your closest friends. You were the rock for our Emmali, and to Aubrey and Oliver, you will always be their beloved "Buttons." You leave such a hole in the hearts of your brothers, Mike and Mark, and your sister-in-law, Linda. Your nephews, Zach and Cade, and your nieces, Robin, Krista, and Tara.

Thank you for the music, the laughter, and for always knowing how to organize and put things back together. You are missed by every single person whose life you touched, but mostly, you are missed by me.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  Working with Doug Eldridge at HCUS was always a bright spot in the day - his warmth, steady professionalism, and easy sense of humor made every conversation feel genuine and effortless.  He had a way of turning routine work into something lighter and more human, and I always looked forward to speaking with him on a regular basis. 
I'll remember Doug for his kindness, his thoughtful approach to problems, and the small moments of camaraderie that made the environment pleasurable.  Those interactions - the quick check-ins, the laugh over a shared joke, the calm voice that steadied a busy day - are the memories that will stay with me.  
RIP Doug.  You will be deeply missed.

I had the honor and privilege of working along side of Doug for 10 years in the Stone Broke Band. I could consider him one of my very best friends. He would mess around on the guitar and he was also our “sound guy”. Truly he was the glue of our band. He always had a smile and a hug. I loved him dearly. Genuinely one of the most selfless souls I have ever known.

Doug was one of the first people to welcome me when I started at Harris County.  He was always there to lend a hand or a good word during and after my time there.  He personified the best of the group and I and many others will miss him.

I am fortunate to have met Doug while working at Harris County. We would regularly run into each other early in the morning, and he had a way of putting a smile on your face regardless of how terribly the day was going. I will never forget the jokes, the laughs, and Doug's infectious smile.

Doug, saying goodbye is not easy, but I’m grateful for every memory we shared. Your kindness, laughter, and friendship will always stay in my heart. Rest peacefully, my friend — you will never be forgotten.

Like everyone else who was fortunate to know Doug, I'm devastated and deeply saddened. I knew Doug for about 10 years through work. People were delighted to be around him. He was the type of person whose presence could make any day brighter. Both Doug and I were early birds at work and would often have conversations before the work day became consuming. I was at his retirement party where he was surrounded by people who adored him. This is the Doug that I remember. We stayed in touch, but there were times I thought of him and didn't call. I regret not making that last call when I thought of him. He won't be forgotten. Whatever he went through at the end, I hope he knew how much he mattered to so many people.

We’ll remember Doug as a more than thoughtful neighbor. He did many things to help his senior neighbors. He saw the need before we did. One example: we were talking in the living room & I told him to knock hard on the door so we could hear him back in the den because our doorbell has been broken for years. He got up & looked at it & came back later & put in a new lighted one. Everytime we look at it we will think of Doug. He was such a caring, kind, thoughtful man to all the close neighbors & we will all miss him. John & Jeanne

Doug, you will be missed by so many people, and you just don't realize how many people loved you. We worked together for several years, and we became very close friends. We will celebrate you and the incredible life you lived.  Heartbroken, but I know you are at peace now.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Dougie was truly one of a kind: funny, kind, caring, and always a helper. He had such a good heart, and he made a difference in people’s lives just by being who he was. We worked together for years, and it was obvious how much he cared about people and how hard he tried to help others. Sending love to all who knew and loved him.

I met Doug through my husband 20 years ago and we hit it off right away. Bruce has known him for over 30 yrs as they worked together and were great friends. He always knew how to make me laugh and made me feel better when I needed it.  Doug, you are going to be  dearly missed. It is not going to be the same without you around. I hope you found peace. My condolences to the family. We will be praying for all of you.

I met Doug while at Dr. and Mrs. Eldridge’s house. I was blessed to call him a friend shortly after we first met. He was such a great and fun person to be around. Always making us laugh and cutting up with jokes.  Doug was always so nice and thoughtful. Every time he would come over the first thing he would do is give the cat, CheChe, treats and ask if everyone was doing well. Doug was always there to help out at his parent’s house, taking them to and from appointments, etc. He was a very caring, compassionate man who treated everyone with the upmost respect. His personality was one that lit up the room with a big smile. I will cherish those smiles, conversations, and memories that we shared together.

I was heartbroken to hear of Doug's passing.  I knew him and worked with him at Harris County for several decades and continued to check in with him even after my retirement.  He was loved and cared for by many which I believe he never realized.  

He will be truly missed.  My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to his family and his partner Tony.
