

On January 21, 1926, a daughter was born to Vernon and Reavelia(Moore) Anderson in Bethany, Louisiana. She met and married Monroe Durden, Sr. and from this union two sons were born: Theadis Durden, Sr. and Monroe Durden, Jr. She accepted Christ and was baptized in her youth at Berean Baptist Church in Jefferson, Texas. She later moved to Houston where she began a career as a cook in a downtown Houston restaurant and later started a lasting and fulfilling career in domestic engineering with the Bell family until she retired. She faithfully attended Greater Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church for several years and served on the usher board until her son, Theadis Durden, Sr. became a pastor. She then moved her membership to New Faith Missionary Baptist Church where she diligently served as president of the Ushers and Nurses board and worked with the mission department for many years. She was always committed to GOD first and was respected as the mother of the church. She is survived by one Son; Theadis Durden, Sr.(Mattie), Sisters; Bobbie Jean Brent, Jewel Smith, Charlie McDonald, Brother; Rudolphus Anderson(Maymie); five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both parents; Vernon and Reavelia Anderson, her husband; Monroe Durden, Sr., one son; Monroe Durden, Jr., two sisters; Vertis Boleware and Ruby Britton, three brothers; Willie Anderson, Vernon Anderson and Ivory Anderson; one grandson; Monroe Durden, III.
