

Elida Velasco, 80, went to her special place in Heaven to be with the Lord on December 30, 2010. Elida was born in San Antonio on July 15, 1930. She found her inspiration in Life through healing and helping others by attending nursing school at St. Josephs School of nursing in Houston Texas, graduating in 1952. She spent the next 50 years in the medical field devoted to others such as the children at Richmond State School in Richmond Texas.
Elida had a great love of family and church. She was a long time petitioner of St. John Vianny's Catholic Church. One of her great passions was traveling the world from China to American Samoa Alaska and many other places in between. Her membership in the Hispanic genealogical society was also one of her joys in life!
She is preceded in death by her parents Delfina Sepulveda Flores and Genaro Flores Sr., her brothers Richard Flores, Genaro Flores Jr., and Roy Valdez as well as her son Thomas Andrew Velasco and grandson Michael Anthony Velasco. She is survived by her sons David Velasco, Manuel Velasco II, Dr. Carlos and Laura Velasco John and Claudia Velasco grandsons Christopher Velasco, Thomas Velasco Jr., Brandon Velasco, Benjamin Velasco, Daniel Velasco and granddaughter Eleana Velasco and Izabella Velasco and most of other relatives and friends.
Friends and relatives are cordially invited to gather with the family from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday January 6, 2010 with a rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m.
A Funeral Mass is to be offered at 10 a.m. Friday January 7, 2010 at our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with interment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale.
