Dear Leta, 
Yesterday, I  just learned of Elizabeth's passing   I am sorely grieved. I am the girl who traveled with Elizabeth from Houston to her home Durham NH for Thanksgiving 1979.   It was my best vacation ever in my life.    You are such a gracious mom to let me stay in your lovely home.  You took Elizabeth & I out to a Seafood Restaurant in Maine.  What a treat to eat real Maine Lobster.   Another day, you drove us to a newly built mall.  It was a 5 miles trip on a new roadway.   The next day, Elizabeth introduced me to an older woman who was the regional chairperson for the Red Cross.  On that day, Elizabeth and I went to it's blood drive.  We volunteered for a few hours helping people who donated blood. We gave them orange juice and crackers after their blood donation.  We were interviewed by a newspaperman.  I don't know if ever an article was published about Elizabeth and I coming from Houston.  Another day, Elizabeth drove me to Boston, I ate my first Reuben sandwich.  Loved it.  We wandered through little shops.  On Thanksgiving Day, Elizabeth & I road in an ambulance, representative for Red Cross.  What fun. We threw candy out to the crowds.  
I met Elizabeth at University of Houston in 1977.  I helped found the University's First Women's Inter-Collegiate Traveling  Bowling Team.  Elizabeth was on the team.  Elizabeth was dear friend to me.  By 1981, I graduated UofH, looked for work.  Elizabeth found the love of her life Stephen.   So, our lives parted upon different paths.  I've never forgotten Elizabeth.  She's such a beautiful soul, wise too.  She's very special friend to me in my life.  You were ever so much fun too and gracious host.  Hugs to you my dear Leta and her son Shawn.  I now hold you and Elizabeth and her husband Stephen Powers in my heart of prayers forever. I love you. Liz was a wonderful person.  She had an unmatched work ethic and commitment to her family.  She loved you,Steve and Shawn,very much and spoke of you often at work.  Her commitment to family was an inspiration and challenge to me.  My thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this difficult time.

To the Powers family and extended family,
Liz was always there with a helping hand and spirit as accounting needs arose for my personal and company account.  I always knew Liz was on top of things, usually before I could even think of the right questions to answer.  I'll always remember her positive attitude as she fought a good fight against this disease.  She's been a testimony to me and countless others I am sure.  You all can be sure that Liz left a positive and encouraging atmosphere whereever she was.  I consider it an honor to have known and worked with Liz over the years.

Liz is very special to me. After my husband died I could always call Liz and she would help me with any tax or accounting question I had.  She was an inspiration to anyone.  Always smiling and happy.  A very special person.  She will be missed by all.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of that truly remarkable woman. Liz started out as the account rep at John Jones for our small family business so long ago I can't even remember the exact year. Through the years she grew into so much more. You couldn't help but develop a friendship with her. She was one of the most patient, positive, thoughtful people I have ever met. After we discovered each of us had been diagnosed with different cancers, that is when I was priviliged to see what a truly wonderful person she was. She always kept tabs on me, made sure she knew when my tests were and continued checking on me, even when she was struggling through her own battles. She always stayed positive and encouraged me to do so as well. And for the business side of Liz, there was no one better Even when she didnt have time, she made time for any question I had. Its funny because every end of our fiscal year she would email me her list of questions or things needing clarification on our books. I would get her list and call her, we would both end up laughing because I had absolutely no idea what she was talking about and she was entertained by my complete cluelessness of the accounting world. In the end though, she always made it work. She truly was a great person. She will be missed but never forgotten.

We will all miss Liz greatly!She was a great person.God has taken her soul.She is now in a wonderful place.

Liz was not only our friend, but a part of our family at John T. Jones.  We will miss her dearly!  My favorite memory of Liz was when she showed up at work one day and plopped a big bag on my desk.  I was wondering what in the world could be in that bag!  She individually pulled out sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, and chocolate chips and then just smiled at me.  : )  I got the hint that she wanted me to bake more chocolate chip cookies to share with the office.  

To her family - I am praying for you that God would provide you the comfort and peace that only He can provide during times like this.

I would like to express how sorry everyone at Andrews Capital Management is for your loss.  Liz has been the firm’s account representative since 2006.  Throughout the years, we've had the chance to get to know Liz well and we have come to value her friendship, kindness and thoughtfulness. She will be missed.   May her memory sustain you through this difficult time.  Our thoughts are with you, as well as, her family at John Jones & Company.

Liz took us from the 19th century, to the 20th and into the 21st with our use of accounting programs.  We would say, "Ask Liz.  Push the button!" because she was on the indispensable-person speed dial.  She would laugh, tell us which cost code was incorrect, where to put that miscellaneous journal entry and how to clean up our mess.  We will always value her and recognize her unique contribution to our lives.

We also feel so very blessed to have had Liz in our lives for the many years we have been with John and his companies.  Liz has been our major accounting support for our family businesses (and my brothers & I before we had families of our own!)  Liz would graciously accept our ten-or-so 50+-year-old HEAVY ledger books and put the data into reports separated out by corporation, partnership & 5 of us.  When she found inevitable information holes, she would patiently and kindly help us fill them in with her zippy speed and humor....  "What's this debit for, when & why did the money appear, where did it go & how many of you do I divide this by?  Actually, I am coming over.  Let's order BLT's!"  She held our hands and our hearts through many financial transitions.  We are grateful for her presence in our lives.

 I am going to miss Liz.  She has been an integral part of my life for many years, especially since 2005, every month, almost every day.  Every time I had an accounting question, I would call Liz.  She was always available and CHEERFULLY helped me!  At times when I thought I could not do my job, she showed me how we could work our new system.  She became a friend to rely on as well as our accountant.  Love You Liz.

Steve, Shawn and family-My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time. I have been blessed to know and enjoy Liz for the last several years. I will miss hearing her work with the various clients, always teaching them.

I have been blessed to have spent time with Liz, not only as a co worker or as a friend but a sister.  It has been a very difficult past few weeks for us. I have known Liz for over fourteen years. She was a strong will lady.  I will miss her laughter, her emails, her music and most of all her companionship. Thank you for sharing your wife and mother.  You will always live in our hearts and prayers.

Liz was awesome and we are all going to miss her dearly.  It has been a real honor to be able to work alongside her for the past 18 years.  My wife, Lisa, and I have been very blessed to be able to spend some quality time with Steve and Shawn over the past weeks.  It has been wonderful to meet Liz's mom, brothers and the rest of  her family and to get to know them better.  We are all going to miss Liz.

Dear family I will certainly miss Liz and her quirky sense of humor. She was an awesome lady and will certainly be missed. I have enjoyed knowing her and having her as a friend and co-worker. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
