

Ellen was born on November 18, 1935 in Houston Texas to Arnold and Eloise Schroder on November 18, 1935. She went to High School at Jefferson Davis High School and graduated in 1953. She went on to Texas Women's College majoring in business. She worked as a secretary to a pathologist until she married Jim Box. Later she worked at Mission Manufacturing Co in Houston. She was proficient in typing and shorthand. Later she worked at the library at Spring Oaks Junior High and helped run 3-B services a mowing business started by her and Jim and they hired Jim’s dad, JC Box. She and Jim also had a drafting service they did on the side. Ellen loved doing crafts with the children and decorating their home. She was a wonderful seamstress and made clothes for the children and sewed her wedding dress. Towards the end of her life, she was lovingly cared for by Rosina Banks.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Arnold Sr. and Ellouise Schroeder, husband James Clarke Box, and sister Carol Ballenger.
Ellen is survived by her son Douglas Box and wife LaVelda, daughters Kandice Gremillion and husband Keith, Allyson Koether and husband Brian, Grandchildren Daniel Popps, David Box, Derrick Box, Sam Barrick, Hannah Koether and Phillip Koether, Great-Grandchildren Kayo Popps, Mikko Popps, Austin Box, Libby Box, Everleigh Box Harper Box, Eden Carnes, Will Barrick, and Annika Barrick and brother Arnold Schroder Jr.
Visitation for Ellen will be on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Foundry United Methodist Church on Jones Rd. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am with reverend Rene of Foundry Methodist Church officiating. A private interment will take place later.
