

Estelle Tatmon Young, known by all as "Nanny/Aunt Estelle," was born in Whiteville, Louisiana on February 24, 1923 to the late Geoffrey Tatmon and Irene Star. Estelle was the 7th child of eleven born to this union. She attended school in the Whiteville area, where she received her highest education. She was married to Mr. Whitney Young, who proceeded her in death in 1974. She held multiple occupations in California before moving to Houston, Texas in 1984. Upon her arrival in Houston, she united with the East Park Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, November 11, 1984, under the leadership of Founding Pastor M. L. Holiday and remained a loyal and faithful member. She was active in the Sunday School Women #1 Class and "Women of Faith" Day Mission. Estelle was proceeded in death by both parents, Geoffrey and Irene Star Tatmon; her husband, Whitney Young; six sisters: Jane Tatmon, Carrie Murray, Mary Siverand, LeAna Woodridge, Irene Robinson, and Elvira Nash; and two brothers: Hollins Tatmon, and Benjamin Tatmon. Estelle leaves to cherish her glorious memories a sister' Edmonia Bernard (Opelousas, Louisiana), a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great grand nieces and nephes and extended family.
