Eva M Benitez

Eva was a native Houstonian and loved her profession as a hairdresser and beauty salon owner in the Houston Heights. She enjoyed spending time at home with her family and her beloved parrot, Jerry Bird. She was always happiest when surrounded by her loved ones, especially at the family ranch in Gonzalez, Texas. She was a passionate member of Young at Heart at St. Patricks and enjoyed good music, dancing, creating ceramic art, and traveling. Eva was the daughter of Maximo and Justina Melchor, and was preceded in death by her one true love, Manuel Benitez II; sons Rudolph and Charles; daughter Georgiana; granddaughter Lisa; brothers Raul and Gilbert Melchor; and half-brothers Mario, Bruno, Ascencion “Nene”, and Frank Quinones. She is survived by children, Dieanne Lathrop (Winston), Manuel Benitez, III, Josephine Fohl, and Richard Benitez; sisters, Ida Alvarado (Frank), Elisa Kaylor (Tom); and 43 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

As the matriarch of her family, she will be missed and forever in our hearts. Visitation and Mass will be next Friday, June 25th from 4:00-7:00PM, with a Rosary to follow 7:00-8:00PM. Funeral services and burial will be held Saturday, June 26th from 1:00-3:00PM. The services will be live streamed for those who cannot attend. All services will be held at Forest Park Lawndale.
