Evelyn Slansky Wierzbicki

Evelyn Ann (Slansky) Wierzbicki, 84, of Houston, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 15, 1929 in Fayetteville, Texas to Albina (Cervenka) Slansky and William F. Slansky. In 1947, she married Bruno J. Wierzbicki in Houston. Evelyn was an employee of Houston Independent School District for 21 years, retiring in 1989. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Anne de Beaupre Catholic Church. Evelyn was a good-hearted person known for her ever-present smile, kindness, and generosity. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and husband Bruno. She is survived by her children: Bruno Wierzbicki, Jr. and wife Rita of Lake Jackson; Cindy Abshire and husband Billy of Plantersville; Roy Wierzbicki and wife Karen of Cypress; and Bobby Wierzbicki and wife Lisa of Houston; sister: Martha Gorski, of Tomball; grandchildren: Tina Miles and husband Mark, Jason Wierzbicki and wife Nola, Matthew Wierzbicki, Brian Abshire and wife Ana, and Dana, Mark, and Kate Wierzbicki; great-grandchildren: Nathan, Seth, and Jessie Miles and Laynie Wierzbicki. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 27 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, January 30, 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne de Beaupre Catholic Church, 2810 Link Road, Houston, Texas. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
