

Floyd James Wooten Jr. “Jim”, 79 of Spring, TX passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022, in Houston, TX. He was born on February 11, 1942. Jim was an Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War and was awarded a Purple Heart for injury sustained during combat. After his military service, Jim resumed his career as a lifelong house mover in Houston, TX. Jim planned on retiring from Cherry House Moving upon his 80th birthday this year.
Hobbies/Interest: Home and car restoration, carpentry, swap meets, car shows, gun collecting, cheering his granddaughters on in softball, spending time with family and friends, and relaxing in his man cave.
Education: Sam Houston High School C/O 1963
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellolene Ward-Wooten, his father, Floyd Wooten Sr., a brother, Richard Wooten, a sister, Julia Wooten-Everett, and his mother-in-law, Bessie Ethridge. He is survived by Dianne Wooten, his wife of 55 years; a daughter, Stacie Gilbertson and her husband, Daren Gilbertson; a daughter, Courtney Kraha and two grandchildren, Skylar Wooten, and Rylee Gilbertson. He will be profoundly missed.
A visitation for Jim will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.
His memorial service will be held at 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home. Commitment will be on the Houston National Veterans Cemetery grounds, with military honors located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038 from 11:15 AM to 12:00 PM.
