Frutoso "Pop" Hernandez

Frutoso was born January 21, 1935 in Taft, Texas to Federico and Alvina Carizales Hernandez and passed away suddenly October 27, 2016 at the age of 81. In his early years He lived in Colorado before the family moved to Houston, Texas where he grew up in Port

Houston with his five brothers, Johnny, Fabian, Fred, Robert and David; and two sisters. Felice and Faye. In 1962 he married Helen Owen Meadows and became an instant Pop to four small children, Gayla, James, Michael and Debbie. Many people, friends, neighbors and employers knew him only as Pop throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, brother Robert, brother-in-laws Richard Garcia and David Rosas. Pop is survived by his children Gayla (Jim) Artman, James Meadows, Michael (Brenda) Meadows, Debbie (Jesse) Schaunaman; grandchildren, Peter (Celeste) Palermo, Lori (Steve) Blackwell, Jason Meadows, Casey (Billy) Rogers, Katie Sheldon, Sean Meadows, Taylor Artman, Amanda(Chris) Riley, Jessie Rae Meadows, Jamie Schaunaman; and great-grandchildren, Kyle Blackwell, Peyton Palermo, Morgan Palermo, Bella Blackwell, Nic Blackwell, Madison Rogers, Bailey Rogers, Liza and Brandon Meadows, Pruedence Schaunaman and Logan Riley; siblings, Johnny (Annie), Fabian (Mary Helen), Fred (Virginia), David Hernandez and Felice Garcia and Faye Rosas; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Viewing and Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2016 between 10:00 to 12:00 with services to follow at 1:00 pm. Forest Park Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, Texas.
