

George was born to Herminio Lopez and Adelaida Lopez on November 7, 1945, in San Antonio, TX. He graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1963 and received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Houston in 1976. He married Emily Hernandez in 1976, and they lived together in Houston, TX. Together they raised two children.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Emily Lopez; his beloved son, Christopher Lopez; his cherished daughter, Marisa Lopez Alexander; his wonderful son-in-law, Michael Alexander; and his precious granddaughters, Ava Elizabeth Alexander and Bella Marie Alexander – each a shining light in his heart.
He leaves behind a legacy held dear by his sister, Nancy Gonzales; nephews David Gonzales, Roland Rodriguez, and Steven Rodriguez; and nieces Denise Lozano and Jodi Allison.
He was preceded in death by mother Adelaida Lopez, father Herminio Lopez, and sister Mary Rodriguez.
George joined the U.S. Air Force from 1966 – 1970 where he volunteered to serve one year in Vietnam. He believed in courage, honor, and the quiet strength of duty. His patriotism was not worn on his sleeve but lived in the depths of his character—a steady flame of love and loyalty for his country.
George dedicated 20 years of his career as a Registered Pharmacist with Kroger Pharmacy. In his free time, he found joy in fishing, reading, and playing cards. He was also a devoted volunteer with the Holy Name Catholic Church Food Pantry, helping those in need.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025, from 5 pm-9 pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Rosary will be at 7 pm.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 9:30 am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
Burial will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery with a Reception to follow.
