OBITUARY In the year of our Lord 1932, a baby boy was born on April 9th, to Kile and Mary Woods, who preceded him in death. He is one of seven children. At an early age he accepted Christ and united with the Greater Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where he was baptized by the late Rev. E. D. Carrington. He attended 23rd Ave. Elementary School, Harper Jr. High School and graduated from Booker T. Washington. Upon graduating from Booker T., George enlisted into the U. S. Air Force and served his country from 1951-1955. He worked for Capital Steel, Pyramid Manufacturing, Seven Trinity Industries, and retired in Structural Steel Fabrication Management after 38 years. George met and married his beloved wife, Doris Jean Alcorn. They were married over 45 years. To this union one daughter was born, Toshia Lashoan Woods. He also had one son, Dwight Woods-Ricketts. In his service at Greater Mt. Zion he was a faithful member of the Usher Board, sang in the Choir, and was a faithful member of the Brotherhood Ministry. He has been preceded in death by his wife Doris, his Mother Mary Spiller Woods, his father Kile Woods, one sister, Tyler Mae Fance, four brothers, William, Kile, Jr., Henry, and Tom “Happy” Woods. His memories will be forever cherished by his daughter, Toshia L. Woods, his son Dwight Woods Ricketts, one sister Annie Bennett (Frank), God Sons Lawrence Sylvester and Lawrence Baquet, with a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends, neighbors, and loving and devoted church members.
