Gladys Vera Burk, age 87, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017. Born in Fouke, Arkansas she was a fun loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved music and to dance. She could make or fix anything and was always the life of the party. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Burk; father, Mark E. Thornton, Sr.; mother, Myrtle Bloodgood Thornton; sisters, Adalee Johnson, Mary Brown and Birdie Thornton; brothers, Otis Thornton, Marvin Thornton, Wiley Thornton and Mark Edward Thornton, Jr.; daughter, Carolyn Sue Mathis; grandson, Wesley Ray Beard; granddaughter, Stephanie D. Alcantar; and great granddaughter, Samantha Nicole. Survived by daughters, Gayle Lambert and husband Ray, Brenda Bramlett and husband Terry, Deborah McGuire and Linda Hazelwood; grandchildren, Brian L. Burk, Dusty Ray Beard, Stacy Palacios and husband Victor, Valerie Beard, Scott Lambert and wife Peggy, Joseph Mathis, Jr., Victoria Rumble; grandson-in-law, Israel Alcantar; great grandchildren, Dustin Ray Beard, Brittany Palacios, Victor Palacios, Jr., Michael S. Palacios, Ashley Huckey, Cameron Beard, Israel Alcantar, Jr., Erica Beard, Hailey Alcantar, April Rumble, Michael Rumble, Jr., Tristen Allen, Lauren Lambert, Brian Burk, Jr., Colton Burk, Jordan Burk, Wesley Ray Beard, Marlie Beard and Maggy Landry; great great grandchildren, Gabriella Beard and Stella Landry; furry friend, Sassy; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 10, 2017 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, Texas 77060. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will then be at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
