Golden was born in Brenham, Texas on August 7, 1944, to Albert Wright and Laura Nealy Wright, she was a devoted member of the Worship Center in Houston, TX.
Golden was truly a force of nature — full of laughter, strength, warmth, and unconditional love. She had a remarkable way of filling every room with comfort and joy, and her presence made everyone feel at home.
She had a passion for cooking and was widely known for the love she poured into every meal she prepared. From her famous sweet potato pies to her barbecues, potato salad, cornbread dressing, and incredible baking, her kitchen was a place where memories were made and hearts were nourished. Cooking was her love language, and she expressed it beautifully through every dish she shared.
Golden’s home was always open, and her heart even more so. She was always there for her children and remained a steady source of strength, guidance, and unconditional love throughout her life. She taught her family the true meaning of love, resilience, and togetherness.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory four daughters: Sharon Wright, Janice Clark Cloud (Alvin), Ruthie McGilbert and Felicia Campbell Horace (Darryl) all of Houston, TX, and her beloved dog Coco.
Golden also leaves her cherished grandchildren; April Wright, Kevin Clark, LaToya Clark, Alberta Clark, Dewayne LaGrone, Brandy Clark, LaTasha McGilbert Lincoln, Meishan McGilbert Jr., Chaz McGilbert and 16 great-grandchildren who will continue to carry her love, lessons, and legacy forward.
She also leaves behind her brother Pastor Albert Wright (Emma) of Brenham, Texas; her sisters Verna Wynne; Carrie Price (Vincent) of Houston, Texas; Yvonne Williams (Charlie) of Prentiss, Mississippi; Annie Wright and Joyce Perro of Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnny Campbell; grandson, Corey Wright, mother, Laura Wright; father, Albert Wright; brothers, J.B. Wright, and James Wright; sister, Frances Harge Butler
Though our hearts are heavy, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a love that will never fade. Golden Marie Campbell’s legacy of warmth, generosity, strength, and unconditional love will forever live on through her children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and lovingly remembered.
