

Harold Charles “Hal” Smith, 59 years of age, died on October 2, 2010. Hal was born November 4, 1950, to loving parents, Clarence Cecil and Wanda Pauline Smith. He was the second child, coming into the world after his brother, Terry, who was 2 years old at the time of Hal’s birth. Hal and Terry were both born in Wichita, Kansas at Wesley hospital.
Hal attended Wichita Public Schools including Sunnyside Elementary, Roosevelt Junior High, and East High where he graduated with the class of 1968. He also attended Wichita State University for a brief time.
He married Judy Wallace in June 19th of 1970, and they had a child, Angela Denise in September of 1971. She was also born at Wesley hospital in Wichita, KS.
In 1982, after seven years of illness, Clarence, Hal’s father, passed away at the age of 61.
After his divorce, Hal met Suzanne Jones in 1983. He and Suzanne were married and they were together in Houston, TX at the time of his death.
Hal became a grandfather in June of 1994 with the birth of his granddaughter, Emily Ashtyn Elaine Bitker. Following in tradition, Emily was also born at Wesley hospital in Wichita, KS.
Hal’s career was construction. Hal was a field superintendent at Meacham Construction in Houston, Texas, until his untimely death.
Hal is survived by his wife, Suzanne Jones, Houston, TX; loving mother, Pauline Smith, Wichita, KS; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Freida Smith, Richardson, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and John Bitker, granddaughter, Emily Bitker, Wichita, KS; and many extended family and friends.
Hal had an infectious smile, generous heart and gentle manner. He cherished his loved ones and quality time with his family and friends, was a wonderful host and entertainer and could be generous and charitable to a fault.
Hal will be greatly missed and always remembered as a loving and devoted husband, son, brother, father, grandfather and friend.
