Harrel Wayne Johnson, beloved father, grandfather, and partner, passed away at the age of 76, Wednesday September 15, 2021, after a valiant effort against Covid 19. He was born in Jefferson, Texas on November 11, 1944, however resided in Houston the majority of his life, and certainly called Houston home. Harrel was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and shared his birthday with our national Veteran's Day. Both of which gave him a great deal of pride and joy, as he loved his country, and his fellow veterans.
Harrel was a highly respected member of the construction industry for 48 years, and was literally able to build or "fix" anything. He took great pride in the fact that he had a hand in much of Houston's skyline throughout the years, and often pointed out buildings he had a part in building. Harrel also had a love for Houston sports, specifically "his Astros", Rockets, Oilers, and Texans. He could easily recite stats about each team back to the 60's, and attended many games over his lifetime. More impressive, and remarkable, was that Harrel never missed a sporting event or school event of any of his grandchildren. Happily driving miles and miles, to see them play, and compete around the city. He very much wore this as a badge of honor, and a loving reminder of his devotion to each of his grandchildren.
Harrel lived his life with a feeling of enjoyment, and enthusiasm that was unmatched. His sincerity, compassion, and thoughtfulness for others, touched so many lives, and he will be truly missed.
Harrel is survived by his son Charles (Jeff) Johnson, his four grandchildren Caige, Cason, Jack, Colette Johnson, and loving partner Janice Dupuy-Green,.
Visitation will be held on October 1st from 5:00pm through 8:00pm, with the funeral being held on Saturday October 2, 2021 at 2PM, followed by graveside service at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Fwy., Houston, Texas.
