Henrietta Whitcher Mendoza, affectionately known as Tía Queta, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 3, 2015 in Houston, Texas at the age of 90. Henrietta was born on April 21, 1925 and was a native Houstonian. She was the daughter of Fred and Juanita Whitcher. She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Hinojosa and Dolores Quintero; grandchildren, Rebecca (James) Robinson, Naomi (David) Salazar, Laura (Jarret) Mathwig, and Melissa (André) Chin; great-grandchildren, Christopher Brown, Isabella Robinson, Luke Salazar, Landon Mathwig, Natalia Mathwig, and Vivienne Chin; siblings, Arthur (Elida) Whitcher, and Barbara Enriquez; sister-in-laws, Lynn Whitcher, Lillian Whitcher, and many nieces and nephews. Henrietta is preceded in death by her siblings Ernest Whitcher, Juanita Gonzalez, Charles Whitcher, Stella Bruce, and one niece Sandy Forsythe.
Henrietta enjoyed family gatherings during the holidays, taking care of family both young and old, and spending time with family for life’s celebrations.
The visitation will be held on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 5:00-9:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 11:00 am. Both services will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home.
Henrietta was a faithful servant of Our Lord and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
