Herbert J. Lee gently transitioned to meet his maker on Thursday, March 14, 2019. His parents, Robert and Deltessa Lee, along with his brother, Robert, II (Bobby) preceded him in death. At a very young age, he was baptized by Rev. C.T. Smith at Mt. Rose Baptist Church. He later united with Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church and was the epitome of faithfulness until his health did not allow him to attend. Herbert is a product of the Independence Heights Community and attended Burrus and Booker T. Washington. After graduation from high school, he attended Prairie View A & M College. He received an honorable discharge after serving in the United States Army. His employment included service with the United States Government in Washington, D.C. He retired from the City of Houston’s Department of Finance and Administration. Herbert had a robust and hearty personality and was gifted with a resonant gospel voice that inspired those who were blessed to hear him sing.
