

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Herminia P. Gonzales, a cherished mother, sister, and friend, who departed from this life on June 1, 2025, at the age of 96. Her life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and resilience, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew her.
Born on April 26, 1929, in Laredo, Texas, Minnie lived a life filled with purpose and compassion. She was the cornerstone of her family, nurturing and guiding her loved ones with unwavering devotion. Her wisdom and kindness were unmatched, and she had an incredible ability to make everyone feel valued and loved.
Minnie was not only a pillar of strength in her family but also a person of remarkable accomplishments. She touched countless lives as an almost lifelong Sunday School teacher at her beloved St. Peter Lutheran Church. Her passion for sewing and craftwork brought beauty and joy to those around her.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Arnold Gonzales. Her parents Jesse Ray and Catalina Perales. Her sisters: Connie and her husband, Conrad McNeil; Catalina and her husband, James Cortez; Felicitas and her husband Edward Compean, and Mary Lou Perales. Her brother: Jesse Perales. Sister-in-law: Angie Perales. She is survived by her loving family, including daughters Rosanne and her husband Erich Eberts and Patricia and her husband David Speights and her son Thomas. Brother: Jimmy Perales. Sister-in-law: Delfina Perales. And her memory will be cherished by her extended family and friends. Her love, laughter, and unyielding spirit remain an eternal gift to us all.
A memorial service honoring Minnie’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 1501 Houston Ave, Houston Texas at 10:00 am with the interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1101 Antoine Dr, Houston, Texas at 1:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to share their memories and celebrate a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to stpeterdowntownhouston.org/donate in her honor.
Though the days ahead will be filled with mourning, we take comfort in knowing that Minnie leaves behind a legacy of love that will never be forgotten. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory continue to be a source of inspiration and comfort.
