

Hickman Newton Garrett, III age 76, born July 1, 1948, in Houston, Texas, died February 3, 2025, at his home in LaPorte, Texas, on his own terms. Hickman was born to the late Hickman N. Garrett, Jr. and Margie Middleton Garrett of Houston, Texas. Hickman grew up in Pasadena, Texas. During his elementary school years, his family moved to Bryan, Texas where the family owned and operated a Volkswagen dealership. Hickman graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan, Texas and attended Allen Military Academy. He began his career in law enforcement joining the Bryan Police Department. Upon moving back to Houston, he joined the Harris County Sheriff's Department and retired from the Pasadena Fire Marshalls office as an Arson Investigator. In his free time, Hickman loved fishing the waters of Galveston Bay, designing and building custom fishing rods, building award winning show cars and expanding his gun collection. Hickman was a proud Grand Master Mason, a member of Archived Lodge #1399 in Pasadena, Texas and served the Mason's for over 52 years. Also, Hickman served in the Pasadena Volunteer Fire Department for 11 years, rising to the rank of District Chief.
Hickman is survived by his sister, Susan Garrett, her husband Walter Bollinger, and his fur babies, Gracie and Reba.
Hickman was a proud, caring and compassionate man, who loved his friends, cherished his animals and would help on short notice.
A service will be held at Forest Park Lawndale on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 2 PM, interment to immediately follow at 3 PM.
