Forse, Sr. I.L. was a very loving, kind man, so compassionate and understanding of everyone, did not judge others or look down on anyone. He always looked for the best in everyone. I. L. was loved by many because he was so personable and made everyone feel comfortable; a gentle giant.
He met his High School sweetheart, Dorothy, in 1961 and won her hand in marriage December 13, 1963. They were blessed with two children; Jonathan and Kimberly.
I. L. served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Viet Nam conflict and traveled aboard the USS Talladega to Mexico, Guam, Japan and the Philippine Islands, attaining the rank of First Class Petty Officer, Gunner’s Mate during his years of service.
He graduated from Lamar University and retired from Shell Corporation.
He enjoyed numerous hobbies that included scuba diving, boating and RV travel with his wife and children. Since retiring, he and his wife traveled extensively to many beautiful places. They enjoyed traveling the U.S. and Canada, and took a number of cruises around the world. They felt the Lord blessed them to have many amazing experiences. All the glory belongs to the Lord.
He was actively involved in the work of the Lord and had a heart for missions which led him to volunteer his time and talents on several mission trips to Mexico, Honduras and Panama. He also participated in several home mission “Church In A Day” projects around Texas.
If anyone were to ask I.L. what would be the most important thought he could leave with you, it would be this: “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, children, Jonathan Forse and Kimberly Perez, son-in-law, Sergio Perez, grandchildren, Victoria, Olivia, Julian and Daniel Perez, and many extended family members and a host of friends.
