

Jack B. Magee, of Cleveland, Tx born Jan 3, 1917 in Nacogdoches, Tx passed away in his sleep Sunday night, Oct 27, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Lester Magee, mother, Maggie Bussey Magee, his much loved wife Elizabeth, his beloved grandson Arlie Ray “Buster” Rogers, III, great grandson Garrett Pullum, two sisters and three brothers, and one nephew Michael Magee. He is survived by three daughters; Shellottia Nesloney of Cleveland, Tx, Frankie (Jackie) Brown of Tomball, and Pamela (John) Dissly of Tyler, Tx. Also surviving him are 13 grandchilden, 33 great grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
His oldest daughter Shellottia was devoted to his care for the last twenty one years of his life.
Mr. Magee was separated from the Army on Nov 20, 1945 as a highly decorated war hero. He was awarded The Silver Star for Gallantry in action on Luzon, Philippine Islands on April 25, 1945 by Major General P.W., Clarkson, Commanding General of the 33rd Division. He was also awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in ground combat against the armed enemy during WWII in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations. He took charge of his platoon when all officers above him were killed. He led his troops through to the end to be victorious over the enemy. Daddy never thought he was a hero but he was a hero to us. We are indebted to the loving care daddy received over the years from Gerri DeBerry, Lisa Moore, Toby Roberts and Kim Rader.
Visitation will be from 11:30 - 2:30 on Wednesday, Oct 30, 2013 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home with the funeral service scheduled at 2:30 P.M in the Chapel. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
