He enjoyed gardening, working on cars, watching war history and old western movies. He also enjoyed Russian Cossack and ballroom dancing as a teenager. He loved Russian, Serbian, and old American music. He was an excellent cook and winemaker. He was strong willed, stubborn and held a very strong Russian Orthodox faith. He loved his travels to Russia, attending church, talking about his family history and spending time with his family.

Jacob’s great uncle, on his mother’s side, was Archbishop Dimitry Dobroserdov, who has been canonized a Saint by the Russian Orthodox Church in the 20th century together with many martyrs, confessors and the devotees in Russia. We believe that our Church has a special grace from God to be awarded such an honor – to have a Russian saint among our parishioners not only in spirit, but also by birth.
