James L Cook

He graduated from Crockett High School in 1948, he went to work on different jobs in the pipeline construction industries until 1952.

In 1949 he met Juanita Knight Vaughan, she was a widow with a 3 year old daughter. He adopted Linda Sue Knight. James and Juanita dated and fell in love. They married March 18, 1950.

In 1952 James Stephen Cook was born and they moved to Deer Park, Texas. He went to work for at Shell Oil Company. He worked there until 1983 and retired after 31 years. During that time he held different community services. He was in the fire department, on the planning and zoning commission and on the city council for 12 years. After that he and his family traveled to many states and countries to play golf and see many wonderful things.

He lived in Deer Park until 1997 when he moved to Bentwater in Montgomery County until 2007 and moved back to Deer Park, Texas.

James and Juanita were members of the First Baptist Church in Deer Park. He was also a member of the Deer Park Masonic Lodge #1362.

James is survived by his wife Juanita Cook, Son James Stephen Cook and his wife Maria R Cook, grandson, Eric Ramirez, great grandson, Dylan and great granddaughter Raina. Also grandson Vaughan Penny, great grandson Evan Penny, great granddaughters, Lexie and Krystal Penny.

Services will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home located at 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas. Visitation will be Friday, June 30, 2017, beginning at 11:00 am with the Funeral Service starting at 12:00 pm and Interment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
