

James Gilbert Olson peacefully passed away early Sunday morning. James was born in Houston, Texas to Charles and Dolores Olson on July 2, 1956. He attended Marion High School where he starred in football. He served the country he loved with his twin brother Robert in the United States Navy for four years. Afterwards he enrolled at the University of Houston, earning a degree in political science. In his twenties, James started a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the mentally and physically disabled in the greater Houston area, where his life-long career was dedicated to develop vocational and social delivery programs. He served during the Bush and Perry administrations to the Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities from 1996-2003, three terms. At the time of his death he served on the Harris County Protective Services Board of Directors. His passions were family, his community, and Houston Cougar Football. James is survived by his devoted wife Kimberly Olson, children; Bobbie & Andy Deitrich and Travis & Dusty, grandchildren Joan and Bennett, mother Dolores, twin brother Robert and wife Michelle, Chuck (Cari), Lawrence (Cindy), Paul (Marylee), Andrew (Ingrid), and Celeste and Stan Stringham and twenty-one nieces and nephews. A visitation and will be held on Tuesday, December 15th at Forest Park Lawndale from 5:00pm-9:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 16th at 1:00pm at Forest Park Lawndale at 6900 Lawndale Ave. Houston, TX.
