

Jesse P. Ramirez passed away peacefully in Houston, TX on April 15 th, 2014,surrounded by his family. He was a kind, gentle man; a Husband, Father, and Grandfather, whose loving care will continue long after his presence ceases by all who loved and admired him. He was born in Lockhart, TX on June 4th 1931 to Francisco and Josefina Ramirez. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Felix Ramirez, sister Aurora Orta and very recently his son Ruben Ramirez.Jesse served in the United States Air Force from July 1952 to July 1956. He alsoserved as a Budget Analyst and Finance Operations Chief for the 75 th U.S. Army Maneuver Area Command. A proud Houstonian, Jesse retired from the United States Army Reserve as a Sergeant Major with numerous U.S. decorations and badges such as; Rifle (M16) Sharp Shooter Badge, Pistol Expert Badge, National Defense Medal,Good Conduct Medal, Army and Reserve Component Achievement Medal, Air Force Reserve Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Service Medal and Legion of Merit Medal. After retiring from military service, Jesse spent his life enjoying relationships with family and friends. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council, Eucharistic Minister, 20 year volunteer for the Fiestas Patrias at St. Phillip of Jesus Catholic Church, and a County Precinct Judge. He truly appreciated the unique demands and expectations of everyone and served to reflect his deep Catholic faith and commitments to people from all walks of life. H ewas the best of men and was deeply loved by so many.Survivors include wife, Anna Ramirez; son Jesse P. Ramirez, Jr and wife Yolanda, son Michael Ramirez and wife Rose, daughter Sylvia Alonzo and husband Rick, daughter in law Sandra M. Ramirez (wife of deceased son Ruben Ramirez) son Albert Ramirez and wife Rosalinda. He was also survived by fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Michael E. De Bakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Houston for their wonderful care and compassion. They gave us days and hours full of experiences we would not have shared but for their skill and dedication. We invite all who wish to honor Jesse’s memory to join in a service of sharing as we celebrate his life. The family will be receiving friends from 5 to 9pm on Thursday,April 24st 2014 at Forest Park Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, TX 77023. Rosary will begin at 7pm. Catholic mass at 10:30am and burial to follow on April 25th 2014 at St. Phillip of Jesus Catholic Church and Houston National Cemetery.
